Ford advertisements in gay publications
So the American Family Association is considering a boycott against Ford because Ford is keeping its car advertisements in gay publications. Like zomg oooh ford has cooties.
Ford faces backlash over gay ads
Particularly hypocritical of the AFA is this statement: "All we wanted was for Ford to refrain from choosing sides in the cultural war, and supporting groups which promote same-sex marriage is not remaining neutral, Wildmon said." Sorry buddy but first of all putting an ad in a magazine is not necessarily condonement of what the magazine discusses. it's simple economics. if there is a consumer group who can afford their cars (or even a group who can't!), ford will go for it. unbiased solicitation. if ford decides not to print an ad in a gay-interest magazine, strictly because they want only gay people buying their cars, well then we have a case. but when the hell is that going to happen. ford would even put an ad in the afa magazine if afa let them. (but oh no, those ads will carry over cooties from the gay publications). ford would put an ad in cosmo, but that population ain't gonna buy their cars regardless.
placing of an ad in a magazine strictly to gain consumers is remaining neutral. not placing the ad because ford doesn't want to be associated with the gay community is not remaining. neutral. wildmon has it ass-backwards.
oh, and i propose a boycott against institutionalized marriage. fuck the afa.

i wonder how many people at the afa really are scratching their heads with this one. it's just common sense that to boost sales to any group ford will put their ads in magazines. it's not as if they are only advertising in this one and only magazine. therefore they are being neutral. but back to the headscratching, seriously there has to be a few people in the afa offices who are like this is ridiculous.

Do you honestly think that Ford cares that one organization is boycotting them?
No. They're too busy being happy that the AFA has caused a public controversy, which evokes sympathy for Ford in some people, which can ultimately raise sales.
Ford cares about the AFA boycotting them as much as the AFA cares about you boycotting institutionalized marriage.
btw, the easiest way to boycott institutionalized marriage is to not get married.

Yea, down with pants!

I don't know... I mean do we really want to let gay people drive the same brand of cars that wedrive our kids around in?

i disdain the afa for harboring such inane ideas. and i'm appalled that people would take anti-gay sentiments to this idiotic extreme. the issue here isn't whether ford cares that i care or the afa cares that i care or whatever. this is simply an opinionated blog. (though if i got enough people complaining about it - which i don't care to do - they would care) i don't care that they couldn't care less that i'm boycotting institutionalized marriage, i'd do that regardless.
i want to see how far i could get with a legally binding partnership contract that varies depending on the couple/triad/what-have-you rather than marriage. legally, it ought to be the same exact thing and i'll fight for it to be. i don't think gay couples should be denied tax relief when heterosexual couples get it. spiritually, people can still take marriage as they will.

cause, ya know, gay people are gonna force us all to have gay sex and all gay sex promotes disease and unsanitary living and soon we are all gonna be living like dogs and then we will have an apocalypse.
seriously, what the fuck is wrong with enjoying a gay relationship?
16/12/05 13:31
In all honesty, I think government has no place in marriage. I'd rather give up the tax benefits and have government step out of the business of defining marriage all together.
16/12/05 13:34
that i can agree with wholeheartedly. as long as government ensures someone is responsible for children and that assets are fairly distributed,
"marriage" or "partnerships", what have you, are personal

"seriously, what the fuck is wrong with enjoying a gay relationship? "
Its disordered.
I know you don't like my answer but hey, you asked. I'm not going into it further because you know what my views are.
I think Ford advertising in any magazine they want is fine. Its about money, not publicly supporting or denouncing a certain lifestyle. My views don't cloud me from realizing that its a financial move and nothing more.
16/12/05 13:37
ya, AFA is turning ford's financial move into an idealistic move. that is senseless of them to do.
how is gay marriage disorderly? most of the current disorderliness is because it has been rejected and made taboo by old-fashioned views for so long, because it is in the process of developing. it seems hypocritical to say that marriage should not be under the government's jurisdiction and yet claim that gay marriage is disorderly. does it mean male-female partnerships are equally as disorderly if a marriage has not happened? that marriage is only orderly if the ceremony has been performed by a church?
16/12/05 13:45
Homosexuality is disoreder, therefore any relationships/marriages that come from that is also disordered.
Marriage is sacramental. Only men and women can be married sacramentally.
Therefore, any homosexual relationship is disordered (by definition of God's law, a homosexual marriage can't occur).
Any sexual relationship that is outside of marriage is also disordered, whether hetero or homo because sins against chastity are disordered.
Any civil marriage, even between heterosexuals, is not valid in the eyes of God because it is not sacramental.
*shrug* this is really off topic.
16/12/05 14:08
oh okay, so equal-opportunity disorder. i'm better with that cause it's not hypocritical :P
but, i will always fail to see sex and marriage outside of church as being wrong
16/12/05 14:40
/is already participating in a boycott of institutionalized marriage.
"disordered" has 2 definitions. I'd guess that Chris means either and both are rude. I am not unruly (morally reprehensible is questionable dependant upon the definition of moral used) and I do function in a "normal orderly healthy way". So, Chris, I love you, but fuck you.
Now, that said, AFA asked Ford to pull the ads, Ford said okay, then Ford decided to run them anyway. Sounds like great publicity to me.
Did you know that law school ate my brain? 3.5 hour final today. Don't ask me to think, please.
*kisses*
