das biergarten und Hatshitshit

this is from das rockin' Biergarten in Astoria. michal (sp?? pronounced mi-chhhhal) and bennifer/b-boy/big daddy B. she has my phone!

i went to the met on sunday with josh to see Hatshepsut. well they didn't have her mummy but they had a sarcophagus that she had planned for herself and then decided to transfer her dad into instead. they had to make grooves at either end to accomodate his bigger body. they had other mummies in the egypt exhibit (hatshepsut was actually on the second floor i guess where they put all the special exhibits) but nobody important. i want to see tutankhamen. they had a bunch of statues of her too. apparently most of these had been reconstructed because after 20 years of her successor (thutmose III)'s reign, thutthut decided that all her statues and - well there's a word to call her statues and artwork, etc. - depicting her as a king be smashed, leaving only those depicting her as queen. this is all backwards. okay amenhotep had thutmose I who had hatshepsut with one wife and thutmose II with another. hatshepsut marries thutmose II who becomes pharoah. her half-brother :P thutmose II has thutmose III with a concubine so when thutmose II dies hatshepsut takes over as regent and then declares herself a joint ruler with thutmose III. and starts calling herself king. so the whole king bit.

the story was a lot more interesting than the exhibit. we wanted juicy gossip about court intrigues, backstabbing, difficulties of polygamy, assasinations. and all the mummies to go with it. no mummies. we spent a while in the egypt section and found loo's ancestor though.

here is his great^n-grand-daddy

then we went to central park and saw a raccoon in a tree. the only animals you usually see in central park are the short, screaming bipedal ones with chocolate on their faces.
